In gearing up for #Top10of2k20, I wanted to revisit the post I made for 2019 about Books I Wish I’d Gotten To in order to see if I at least have read these books now. So… Let’s see!
The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory
I read it!! I actually really liked this one! I had put this one off because Jasmine Guillory has sort of distanced herself from the romance community, but I felt like she made small strides this year to embracing actually being a part of the community and shouting out other people’s books. Anyway, what actually matters is that I really liked Maddy and Theo a lot.
Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell
Rainbow Rowell is absolutely an author that has left a bad taste in my mouth and the further I get away from Carry On, the less I want to pick up Wayward Son. At this point, I think I’m just going to wait until the next one comes out so I can read all three back to back so I can take care of it that way.
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
Um… Oops? I don’t have a good excuse for not picking this one up. I just… haven’t.
The Takeover Effect by Nisha Sharma
Tbh, I unhauled this when I got mad at the author for the third time for how she was treating another reviewer.
The Rogue of Fifth Avenue by Joanna Shupe
This book!!!! One of my favorite non-2020 releases of the year and, tbh, one of my favorite historical romances period. I really adored everything about Frank and Mamie.
A Rogue by Night by Kelly Bowen
Ugh. I kept telling myself to pick this one up and I just still haven’t. I’ve not really read a ton of historical romance this year so I just didn’t make time for it.
The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez
So, no, but I did read the sequel! Which I loved. I know all the spoilers about The Friend Zone so that’s kind of put me off of this one. I may still pick it up, but I don’t expect that I’ll enjoy it as much as The Happy Ever After Playlist.
Work for It by Talia Hibbert
So… I still haven’t read this one. I have only just slightly lessened my choke hold on my Talia savings by reading two novellas. I’m struggling to give in and read the two full length novels I have left from her because I don’t want to run out!! But I think I’m going to read Work for It in January for a TBR challenge.
American Love Story by Adriana Herrera
I really liked this one and it was so hard to read for me. Easton’s job (a domestic violence prosecutor) and mine are similar and our policy opinions are similar and I thought Herrera did a really great job of showing some of those struggles.
The Art of Theft by Sherry Thomas
I have no excuse for not getting to this one!! I’m so ashamed. I want to reread the whole series and just haven’t carved out the time, but I really need to do that.
So… I read 3 out of 10 of the ten books I listed that I wish I’d gotten to last year. I find that kind of funny and mostly terrible. Interestingly, I really did enjoy all three of the books that I read that I’d included on that list! But maybe I should try and actually get to the six that are left (I unhauled one).
Are you good at getting to the books you think you’ll love?
